Product Lifecycle & PCN

Lifecycle states (GA, NRND, EOL), change notifications, and our commitment to backward compatibility and seamless migrations.

Related: Quality & Manufacturing, Operating & Environmental Specs, and RF Compliance & Certifications.

1. Lifecycle states

  • GA (General Availability): actively sold and supported.
  • NRND (Not Recommended for New Designs): available for existing programs; not intended for new designs.
  • EOL (End of Life): sales end date and last‑time‑buy/last‑time‑ship timelines communicated; support transitions to sustaining.

2. Backward compatibility & migrations

  • We aim to maintain backward compatibility across releases and provide seamless migrations to updated chipsets/modules.
  • Where a change affects pinout, RF characteristics, or firmware, we provide migration notes and sample reference designs.
  • Drop‑in replacements: for most EOL modules, a mechanically and electrically compatible successor is offered whenever feasible.

3. Product Change Notice (PCN)

  • Issued for material changes (e.g., silicon revision, RF front‑end, BOM change, mechanical/thermal envelope).
  • Includes description, rationale, risk/impact, recommended actions, and effective dates.
  • Target notice windows depend on change type and supply constraints; we provide commercially reasonable advance notice.

4. Product Discontinuance Notice (PDN)

  • Communicates last‑time‑buy (LTB) and last‑time‑ship (LTS) dates, along with successor recommendations.
  • Includes migration guidance and any required certification updates for successor SKUs.
  • After LTS, we cease stocking inventory; RMA/service support follows warranty terms for shipped units (see Hardware Warranty & RMA).

5. Supply & allocation

During supply constraints, allocation policies may apply. We’ll coordinate with customers to prioritize critical programs and ensure continuity while successor products ramp.

6. Certifications & regulatory continuity

  • Where practical, successors retain regulatory equivalence to enable drop‑in replacement; otherwise, guidance is provided to update markings or documentation.
  • See RF Compliance & Certifications for regional status and labeling requirements.

7. Communication

PCN/PDN communications are delivered to customer contacts on file. To ensure you receive notices, keep your program contacts current or reach out via the Contact page.
